The Dark Stag, photo by Aram Khalafyan
In mythology and folklore, deer are always associated with brightness, honor, beauty, and grace. Let us twist that idea around and remember them as a part of the animal kingdom. In the food chain, they are considered to be the second lowest. After insects and plants, that deer consume to gain energy, they also serve as a vessel of more energy for the predators. They have a dark fate of just being hunted, while trying to survive, only to eventually fall prey into the teeth of the predator, and transfer their pure energy to the top of the food chain.
